If you do not want to pay for whatsapp subscription, you can extend the license for one year with this small workaround. You need to have a landline number for this to work.
- Delete the expired account. This option is available in settings>Account. You need to type your number before you can delete the account.
- Press change number available in settings>Account.
- Type in the landline number. Whatsapp will attempt to verify this number by sending SMS. Since this number is landline, there will not be any SMS received.
- Whatsapp will wait for 5 min. After 5 min is expired, whatsapp will give you an option to call you at the landline number with the confirmation number.
- Confirm to call the landline number and input the confirmation received on landline number.
- You got one year free subscription to whatsapp.
